Nu'uanu Pali LookoutThe Pali Lookout is also famous for its powerful, howling winds. As you stand at the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout, you’ll quickly see why it’s considered one of Oahu's top scenic spots, feeling the wind press against you, hearing it whistle through the mountains, and taking in the stunning views of the island’s lush Windward Coast. Perched high above Oahu, the Pali Lookout holds deep historical importance. The word “Pali” means “cliff” in Hawaiian, and this site marks the location of the 1795 Battle of Nuuanu, where King Kamehameha I secured victory and unified the island under his rule. The intense battle resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives, with many warriors driven over the lookout’s steep cliffs.
