With this guided tour you will have the chance to see and get to know the history behind Sofia`s historical landmarks located in the center. The capital of Bulgaria has preserved heritage from different cultures and epochs- Roman, Early Christian. Ottoman, Bulgarian, Soviet. You will walk by all of the important buildings while your guide is telling you their stories. You will also enter for free the three most iconic places in Sofia- Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Saint Sofia Basilica and Saint George Rotunda.

This tour is done as a private tour without an additional charge if there is only one reservation for a given date and time which most often is the case.

The meeting point is in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, at the stairs to the entrance.

    Alexander Nevsky Cathedral: The tour guide will meet you at the entrance of the cathedral. This is also the first point of interest where the tour will start. Your guide will explain the story of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and how, when, and why it was built. It is an indisputable truth that its representation is symbolic of the capital.
  • Saint Sofia Church
    Saint Sofia Church: The second stop of the tour is Saint Sofia Church, one of the most valuable pieces of Early Christian architecture in Southeastern Europe. You will have the chance to enter the best-preserved basilica in the area.
  • Monument of Tsar Liberator: The walking tour continues with admission to the monument “Tsar Liberator” - an equestrian monument in the center of Sofia.
  • Russian Church: The next stop is the beautiful temple of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, known as the Church of St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker. The church was built in the style of Russian Revival Epoque and its unique architecture would definitely make an impression on you.
  • Ivan Vazov National Theater
    National Theater “Ivan Vazov”: The following stop is the National Theatre - another important landmark of Sofia. The theatre's Neoclassical building, with its golden plated decoration, designed by famous Viennese theatre architects is also a symbolic image of the capital itself.
  • Ancient Serdica Archaeological Complex
    Serdica Roman remains: Afterwards, the city tour heads straight to the heart of the ancient Roman town Serdica – remains of which were found during the subway building in 2015, right between the Presidency and the Council of Ministers.
  • The Presidency Building
    Presidency and Parliament: You will see both buildings from outside. The tour guide will explain who and when they were constructed by and other interesting facts from the communist period.
  • Central Hall
    Central mineral springs: The earliest documentary of the oldest springs on the territory of Sofia is the one next to the Central Market (Halli). It was known and used in the ancient times - the rest you will hear as well as curious stories directly from your guide.
  • The Rotunda Church of St George
    Rotunda “St. George”: This is a temple of early Christianity and is the best-preserved building from ancient times, in Sofia.
  • Church “Sveta Nedelya”: The cathedral of Sveta Nedelya is an orthodox church, with patron Saint Nedelya. The square next to the cathedral is a central point and is well-known for historical events during royalism.
  • Sofia Court House
    The Sofia Court House Known as the Palace of Justice, this building in Sofia, accommodates several courts in the city and is famous for its beautiful architecture and rare interior.
  • Vitosha Boulevard
    Vitosha bulevard (pedestrian area): The last stop is at the beginning of the pedestrian area of Vitosha bulevard.
