Visit Bamburgh Castle, the real Last Kingdom of Bebbanburg! There is currently an exhibiton in the Castle of 'Last Kingdom' props and costumes. Alternatively, you can customise the tour by replacing Bamburgh with Alnwick Castle - used as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter hit TV series.

Archaeological excavations are still ongoing on this site, and the museum features a unique set of Roman artifacts, including a huge collection of shoes, the only Roman boxing gloves in the world, a toy sword and a toilet seat. You can also see the Vindolanda Tablets - considered by many as the most important Roman find of the 20th century, allowing a unique insight into the lives of people living at Vindolanda near Hadrian's Wall nearly 2000 years ago.

Bamburgh CastleThe stunning Bamburgh Castle has stood upon a volcanic rock for 1,400 years, having been built by the early Anglo-Saxon kings of Northumberland. In recent years, it featured in the Last Kingdom novels and hit TV-series by Bernard Cornwell, and you can see a display of costumes and props from the series in the castle. It is still one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK.
