Wat Takien Floating MarketEstablished during the reign of King Barommagot of Ayutthaya and located in Tambon Chalo, this temple was constructed in the distinctive style of a traditional European merchant ship. Many lives had been lost as ships foundered in the nearby river, and local belief dictated that, as a result, a temple should be constructed like a boat to bring back good fortune. Although abandoned for many years, monks finally took up residence in the temple again during King Rama the III or IV's reign.
