Overview

There are many places worldwide which were beloved by John Paul II. But among them there are three which can unquestionably be considered the most meaningful ones for him. His birth place – Wadowice – “where everything started” but also where“time was running, eternity was waiting”, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska with its splendid monastery and church, which JPII asked us tovisit “during his life and after his death” and the Sanctuary of Łagiewniki – connected strictly with his message to people about the Divine Mercy of God, which he found in the holy visions of Sister Faustina Kowalska.

  • Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Santuario
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska park is a Mannerist architectural and park landscape complex and pilgrimage park, built in the 17th century as the Counter Reformation in the late 16th century led to prosperity in the creation of Calvaries in Catholic Europe. Karol Wojtyła, as a young man, and later as a priest, also made a pilgrimage to this sanctuary, which he himself mentioned many times. The park, located near the town of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, which took its name from the park, was added in 1999 to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
  • Sanctuary of Divine Mercy
You will visit a sacred complex, connected with the life and activity of Saint Sister Faustina. The dynamic development of the Sanctuary took place after the beatification of Sister Faustina on April 18, 1993, and its canonization on April 30, 2000, and thanks to the pilgrimages of Pope John Paul II (1997 and 2002), Pope Benedict XVI (2006) and Pope Francis (2016).
  • Sanktuarium Swietego Jana Pawla II
You will visit a Roman Catholic center dedicated to the life and work of Pope John Paul II operating in Krakow. The Center's task is to disseminate and creatively develop the legacy of John Paul II, promote spirituality, culture and traditions associated with his person, as well as scientific and educational activities and assistance to those in need. On June 12, 2011, the relic of John Paul II was introduced to the lower chapel of the John Paul II Sanctuary: an ampule with blood, placed in the altar mensa.
