Overview
This is my flagship all-day Orkney adventure and the only private tour I offer that includes access to the world-famous Maeshowe chambered cairn, a 5,000-year-old masterpiece of Neolithic engineering (and possibly the best place in Orkney to feel very small, very old, and slightly awed).
Born and bred here, I’ve (probably) seen it all but Maeshowe still gives me goosebumps. Alongside this UNESCO treasure, we’ll explore other highlights from standing stones to wartime relics, with plenty of local stories, humour, and flexibility built in.
Travel is in a comfy SUV or 4x4 (up to 4 adults), reaching places big coaches miss. Tickets aren’t included, but I can arrange them at cost or you can pre-book.

Saint Magnus CathedralA walk through tour of our 12th century Viking Cathedral. a fantastic photo stop with the aim of beating the crowds.
- We will pass by the Iconic Scapa Flow natural harbour and see the marker buoy of the HMS Royal Oak (pass by)

Unstan Chambered CairnWe will visit and enter a 5300 year old neolithic burial mound. This may not be possible for those with limited mobility.

Yesnaby CliffsWe will then visit dramatic sea cliffs for a photo stop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Skara BraeWe will visit one of Orkneys top attractions in the 5000 year old neolithic Village of skara brae. The best preserved in Northern Europe.

A scheduled lunch stop at one of the best locations in all of Orkney with the option of the Orkney Brewery instead.

Ring of BrodgarWe will visit the world renowned henge monument and stone circle site right in the centre of the heart of neolithic Orkney UNESCO world heritage site.

Standing Stones of StennessWe will visit the oldest henge monument in the UK and take in some more history of the Islands.
