But first heading to Kowloon Walled City park to understand the backgrounds of the area At this site, a Qing military stronghold became Kowloon Walled City, an enclave in political limbo. Post-war, refugees and residents crowded homes, workshops and shops into narrow lanes, forming community ties amid hardship. Demolished in the 1990s, it became a Chinese-style garden park in 1995. The restored Yamen and South Gate remains recall its own past. Today the Yamen hosts Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey, with sets and props from Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, evoking the enclave’s streets and daily life.
