The most popular collectibles in Hyderabad are pearls, lac bangles, Bidri works, and traditional fabrics to name a few. The legendary Hyderabadi pearls are available at leading jewelry stores as well as in the lanes around Char Minar and Char Kaman. The Bidri is a metal craft from the town of Bidar, a neighboring state of Karnataka. Many small shops in the old city stock these.
For traditional fabrics, some of the most popular items are Pochampally Sarees, Kalamkari (hand printing fabric with a pen) and Khada Dupatta (bridal wear). Take a look at some of the popular local bazaars like Koti Market, known as the Residency Market during the British rule in India, you will find artificial silver jewelry, dazzling footwear, and bags to an array of women’s clothing - this place has it all. Begam Bazaar lives up to its name and is definitely the queen of Hyderabad’s street shopping scene and it has been open for more than 150 years now. Moazzam Jahi Market, selling things as diverse as fresh meat, vegetables, the choicest of dry fruits and local perfume caller ittar. Make sure you visit the famous Karachi Bakery.
