Overview
Your breath-taking, adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel and a relaxing private drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside. You will be heading to Cartago Province, about 1-hour drive from San Jose
Irazú Volcano is a National Park in the Central Volcanic Conservation Area of Costa Rica. The volcano is still active although the last major eruptions were between 1963 and 1965, with occasional minor eruptions and some small lava flows since that time. With our professional tour guide you will be able to explore the park and walk to the main lookout point.
The Crater Principal lake has an unusual greenish yellow coloring caused by rainfall dissolving the minerals along the craters walls. It has also been known to change colour to rust-red depending on the minerals present. The Irazú Volcano is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica
The way to the volcano is so beautiful, with many plantations along the way.

- Cartago is located close to the Irazu Volcano in the Central Valley of Cartago. Cartago was the first real Spanish settlement and the first capital of Costa Rica. Despite this long and illustrious history, a succession of earthquakes has destroyed much of the city’s charm. What you see today is a relatively modern city. However, traces of culture and history can still be found. The Basilica of our lady of the Angels and Las Ruinas de la Parroquia are the most significant. Cartago is the perfect fallout base if you want to mix history with archeology and stunning natural sites. (pass by)
