  • Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre and Memorial Walking Trail
Hellfire Pass, known in Thai as Chong Khao Khat, is one of the most powerful historical landmarks in Thailand, located in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. It is part of the famous Thailand–Burma Railway (Death Railway) built during World War II using forced labor from Allied prisoners of war and Asian civilians. The name “Hellfire Pass” came from the haunting scene during construction, when prisoners worked day and night cutting through solid mountain rock by hand under torchlight, creating a fire-like glow that resembled the gates of hell. Today, the site stands as a peaceful memorial honoring those who suffered and lost their lives, transforming history into a place of remembrance, reflection, and learning.
