Koh Ker and Beng Mealea temple private full-day tour from Siem Reap
Overview
Embrace your inner Indiana Jones and head into ancient jungle to explore hidden temples on this private full-day tour. In the morning after being picked up from your hotel, you'll drive deep into Cambodian countryside passing villages and forest populated by deers to Koh Ker. Sitting as the capital of the Angkor Empire, it comprises of a series of temples and monuments dotted throughout the 81 sq-km of jungle.
Only a few temples are open to visitors, with Prasat Krahom and Prasat Thom being the most visited. You'll then continue to Beng Mealea temple. Engulfed by nature, this 12th century temple was built under Suryavarman II and is enclosed by a moat measuring 1.2 km by 900 m. Built to the same floor plan as Angkor Wat but on a smaller scale, this almost-forgotten temple comes without any of Angkor’s crowds. The site spans more than 1 sq-km and is largely overrun by vegetation.
After having had lunch in a local restaurant at the foot of the temple, you will return to Siem Reap where your tour will end.
