River Cruises Collection: Luxor’s East and West Banks
Overview
You’ll see both sides of Luxor – literally – on this full-day tour, which starts with a visit to the Valley of the Kings on the Nile’s West Bank. There, you’ll see some of the 63 tombs buried beneath the surface of this desert necropolis, including the most famous of the lot – Tutankhamun. After, you’ll check out Hatshepsut Temple – a striking three-tier shrine that’s been standing for thousands of years and rises above the desert floor. You’ll then peer up at a pair of 60-foot stone statues named the Colossi of Memnon, which have stood for more than 3,000 years, before hopping on a motorboat to head across the Nile to the East Bank. After a lunch break, you’ll head to the Temple of Karnak’s sprawling complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks, which are dedicated to the Theban gods, and see some of the thousand-plus statues that line up along Sphinx Avenue. Just so you know, the entrance fees to the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramses VI aren’t included.
