  • SSR Botanic Garden
The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden, formerly known as the Royal Botanic Garden is situated in the village of Pamplemousses which lies about ten kilometres North East of Port Louis. From the 18th century up to today, the Botanic Garden has been known under several names such as “Jardin de Mon Plaisir”, “Jardin des Plantes”, “Le Jardin National de I’ Isle de France”, “Jardin du Roy”, “Jardin Botanique de Pamplemousses”, and “The Royal Botanical Garden, Pamplemousses”. On 18th September 1988, the Garden was renamed the “Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden” in remembrance of the first Prime Minister of Mauritius.
  • Citadel Fort Adelaide
Perched on a hill in Port Louis, Mauritius, La Citadelle de Port Louis, or Fort Adelaide, stands as a sentinel over the capital. This fortress, with its black stone walls, dates back to 1830 and was constructed under British rule by Sir Charles Colville. Fort Adelaide was built to protect Port Louis from invasions and control local revolts amid racial tensions. Completed in 1840 and named after Adelaide, wife of King William IV, it stands intact, unlike many British-era forts. It symbolises the end of slavery and the start of Indian immigration, constructed by a diverse labour force.
  • Le Caudan Waterfront
Le Caudan Waterfront is a commercial development in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. It includes shops, banking facilities, casinos, cinemas, restaurants, a marina and a five star hotel (Le Labourdonnais). The name of Le Caudan Waterfront comes from a famous figure of the past, Jean Dominique Michel de Caudan, who came to former Isle de France from Languedoc (a historical province in the South of France). He started a saltpan in 1726, close to a small bay in the southwest of Port-Louis. This area, now known as the Robert Edward Hart Garden, is situated on the entrance road to Le Caudan Waterfront.
