The highlight of this tour is Mitaki Temple, a peaceful mountainside temple founded in 809 and beloved by locals for centuries. Today, it’s also gaining popularity among international visitors.
The journey begins near the atomic bomb hypocenter, where you'll learn about Hiroshima's past. From there, we leave the city behind and make your way to Mitaki Temple, located halfway up Mt. Mitaki.
Surrounded by forest and stone Buddhist statues, the temple offers a quiet contrast to the city. As you walk through its grounds, you'll encounter a striking pagoda, a bell hall, and buildings that were exposed to the atomic bombing — each with its own story, brought to life by your local guide.

- Bus fare from Atomic Bomb Dome Bus Stop to Mitaki area, and train fare from Mitaki Station to Hiroshima Station, Yokogawa Station, or Hakushima Station. Guests may alight at any of these stations.
- Walking can make you thirsty, so we recommend bringing bottled water or other drinks to stay hydrated during the walk or at breaks.

Return details
We’ll take the train from Mitaki Station. Your guide will accompany you all the way to Hiroshima Station, which is two stops from Mitaki.
If you prefer, you may also get off at Yokogawa Station (the next stop) or Hakushima Station (the one after that), before reaching Hiroshima.

You’ll visit several important sites—including the Rest House (a building that survived the atomic bombing), the hypocenter, and the Atomic Bomb Dome—while listening to explanations from your guide. This part of the tour serves as an introduction to the main experience at Mitaki Temple. It helps you better understand the reality of the atomic bombing and provides context for the stories and places you’ll encounter later in the Mitaki area. After the walk, we’ll take a local bus near the Atomic Bomb Dome at 1:36 PM to the Mitaki area. The ride takes about 18 minutes, although this may vary depending on traffic conditions.

After getting off the bus, we’ll walk to Mitaki Temple. It normally takes about 10 minutes on foot, but we’ll go at a relaxed pace, stopping at a few interesting spots along the way while listening to the guide’s explanations. At Mitaki Temple (admission included), your guide will lead you through the serene mountain grounds. Along the way, you’ll see preserved atomic-bombed buildings, a striking pagoda that symbolizes the temple, numerous stone Buddhist statues, and monuments engraved with peace and remembrance. Through these sites, you'll gain insight into the spirit of Hiroshima — a city that once thrived as a military center, was deeply scarred by the atomic bombing, and has since been reborn as a symbol of peace. After enjoying the walk around Mitaki Temple, we’ll walk about 15 minutes to Mitaki Station and take the train back to Central Hiroshima.
