BanyuwangiThe city is the closest area to Mount Ijen. If you come from the west (Surabaya/Jakarta/Yogyakarta) it will be good to stay at Bondowoso. But if you’re from Bali the best way come from Banyuwangi. Many new accommodations near there, so it will make it easy to stay here before heading to Mount Ijen.

Mount Ijen is one active volcano in East Java. Mount Ijen is 9117 ft from sea level. Mount Ijen is a complex mountain that stands in 3 cities. The mountain offers a beautiful sulfur lake at the top and also a wall of sulphure around it. The lake of Mount Ijen is one of the potions lakes in Indonesia because the temperature is more than 60' celsius and a lot of sulfur inside. Reaching the summit will need walking for about 2 hours by feet, but always be careful because the road is narrow and slippery in some parts. The other story is that Mount Ijen has a lot of sulfur miners who can help you if any trouble on your trip. Not only the lake and sulfur that you can see here because Mount Ijen some years ago had a new attraction called Blue Flame or local said api biru. The blue flame is not a real natural phenomenon because it happened from the crack in a pipe of sulfur.
