Museum of Ancient Greek Technology with workshop and guided tour
Overview
The tour will start around 3:00 pm from the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology Kostas Kotsanas, nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award 2019.
First, you'll experience the technological achievements of the ancient Greeks. You'll participate in the workshop "Make Your Own Calculating Mechanism in Antiquity" under the guidance of the museum's staff, to solve the "mystery" of telecommunications in ancient Greece, and discover and operate the worldwide recognized Antikythera Mechanism. Build your own functional part of the Antikythera Mechanism from metal and plexiglass, and use it as a decoration for your favorite place!
After the end of the workshop, you'll head towards the Parliament (the Old Palace) to observe the change of the Greek Presidential Guard – the famous Evzones. You'll then walk in the maze-like paths of the National Garden, where you can discover archaeological treasures hidden among the plants. The National Garden is adorned with statues of patrons of the modern Greek state, small lakes, a few buildings of delicate beauty, and an uncommon irrigation system.
Your tour will finish around 7:00 pm and your guide will accompany you to Syntagma Square.
