Hawke’s Bay offers a unique cycling experience, featuring renowned wineries and scenic routes. A shuttle service will transport you from the Napier I-site to the Takaro base in Ahuriri.
- 🚴♂️ An easy self-guided cycling route of approximately 20km/12 miles (up to 40km/24 miles available) along a dedicated cycle pathway beside the Pacific Ocean.
- 🍷 Visit world-renowned wineries including Crab Farm, Mission Estate, Church Road, and Urban Winery, all located within 7-13km.
- 🌿 Your route includes trails through farmland and an estuary where you can cycle through a birdlife sanctuary.
- 🗓️ Note that not all wineries are open every day; please check winery opening days in the information provided.
- ⚠️ You must book the wineries yourself, especially on cruise days when they tend to be busy!

Your port shuttle bus will drop you off at the Napier isite (2km from the port). Keep an eye out on this ride - look to your left for some GREEN FLAGS which are outside our base. This is where you will walk to to meet us & get your bikes - a 5 minute, 650m walk.

Ahuriri Napier isite Visitor Information CentreYour tour starts by walking to our base on Marine Parade, Napier. 650m from your drop off point - Napier isite. You will see the beach coastal trail behind the isite, take this to our base (turn back towards the port) to collect your bikes. Check out the Napier pier along the way.

Hawke's Bay TrailsYour cycle tour starts at the Takaro Trails site at 26 Marine Parade, Napier. You will start with a tour briefing to determine how far you will be cycling on your route today. NOTE if you want to visit a winery PLEASE BOOK directly with them. Some days they are BOOKED OUT and you wont get a tasting. Get going and cycle down the coastal trail towards the spectaculer Cape Kidnappers which you can see in the distance. After 8km, you can either turn up the Tutaekuri River and head to Brookfields, Church Road (open 7 days PLEASE BOOK) or Mission Estate (open 7 days PLEASE BOOK) wineries OR keep following the coastal cycle trail across the Tukituki River via Black Bridge to head to Clearview (open Wed-Sun PLEASE BOOK) or Elephant Hill (open Thurs-Sun PLEASE BOOK) wineries. You choose, they are all around 22km/14 miles ride away from the starting point. YOU MUST return though so thats another 20-22km! We will give you a MAP to follow.
