  • Nikko is a historic city in Tochigi Prefecture, located approximately 150 kilometers north of Tokyo. With a population of around 70,000, it is one of Japan's largest municipalities by land area. Renowned for its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural scenery, Nikko is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, and Rinnoji Temple. Beyond its historic treasures, Nikko is also famous for its beautiful natural landscapes, such as Lake Chuzenji and the spectacular Kegon Falls. Combining history, spirituality, and breathtaking scenery, Nikko attracts millions of visitors from both Japan and around the world each year. (pass by)
  • Nikko Tosho-gu
Toshogu Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Following his death in 1616, his remains were enshrined here, and the magnificent shrine complex was expanded in the years that followed. Many of the structures seen today have survived since the early Edo period. Toshogu Shrine is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Shrines and Temples of Nikko," which also includes nearby Futarasan Shrine and Rinnoji Temple. As you explore the grounds, you will be immersed in a world of intricate architecture, exquisite wood carvings, and vibrant colors. The shrine reflects both outstanding artistic achievement and the power of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Your experienced guide will explain the site's history and symbolism while highlighting its most important buildings, carvings, and treasures.
  • Rinno-ji Temple
This historic Buddhist temple dates back to the 8th century and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Shrines and Temples of Nikko." Its main hall, Sanbutsudo, is the largest wooden temple building in the Kanto region and houses impressive Buddhist statues. The temple is home to numerous National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. By visiting both Rinnoji Temple and Toshogu Shrine, you will gain a deeper understanding of the differences between Buddhism and Shinto, Japan's two major religious traditions. Note: A visit to Rinnoji Temple is included only in the tour option that uses local bus transportation.
  • Lake Chuzenji
Lake Chuzenji is a beautiful volcanic lake formed approximately 20,000 years ago by the eruption of Mt. Nantai. Surrounded by mountains and forests, the area has long been regarded as a sacred place for worship and spiritual practice. During the tour, you will visit two of Nikko's most famous waterfalls—Kegon Falls and Ryuzu Falls—as well as Chuzenji Temple, a historic Buddhist temple overlooking the lake. Together, these sites offer a perfect combination of natural beauty, history, and spirituality. Note: Visits to Lake Chuzenji are included exclusively in the tour option with a private vehicle.
  • This picturesque riverside path is famous for its line of approximately 70 stone statues of Jizo Bodhisattvas, which stand quietly along the Daiya River. Weathered by time and covered in soft moss, the statues create a mysterious and timeless atmosphere. As you stroll beside the rushing river, the soothing sound of the water and the serene presence of the Jizo statues evoke a sense of wonder, tranquility, and spiritual reflection. It is one of Nikko's most peaceful and photogenic hidden gems. Note: A visit to Kanmangafuchi Abyss is included exclusively in the tour option with a private vehicle.
  • Tobu Nikko Station
At approximately 4:30 PM, we will board the Tobu Limited Express train for the return journey to Tokyo. The ride takes just over two hours, giving you time to relax and reflect on the day's experiences while enjoying the scenery along the way. Upon arrival in Tokyo, your guide will accompany you back to your hotel by subway or local train.
