The Pedro Miguel Locks are one of the three sets of locks that make up the Panama Canal. Located on the Pacific side near Miraflores, these locks lift or lower ships by about 9 meters (30 feet) as they transition between the Pacific Ocean and Gatun Lake. Though smaller and less visited than Miraflores, Pedro Miguel offers a close-up view of the canal’s impressive engineering and, if timed right, the chance to see massive vessels passing through this vital waterway.
- The Panama Canal Administration Building, located in the Balboa area, is a historic and architectural landmark built in 1914 during the American era of the Canal. Perched on a hilltop, it offers sweeping views of the Canal and surrounding former U.S. Canal Zone.
