Takachiho GorgeTakachiho Gorge is a narrow chasm cut through the rock by the Gokase River, and the cliffs lining the gorge are made of volcanic basalt columns that resemble the scales of a dragon where the stone twisted and flowed as it formed. Most interestingly, you can ride on a board to explore the Takachiho River and the gorge.

The Site of Takachiho Railway Amanoiwato StationThe Takachiho Railway offers a 30-minute, 5-kilometer round-trip ride from Takachiho Station to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Takachiho. On the train ride, you will have a good time seeing beautiful views of the gorge, including the new green leaves in spring and colorful leaves in fall, from the Japanese highest railway bridge.
