Angkor ThomContinue to Angkor Thom, the fortified city in a square which is 3 km on each side of the enclosed stone wall. Scholars believed it was the most populated city in the world during its time, with around 500,000 residents. Enter from the victory gate and begin your exploration at Bayon, the temple with towers carved in smiling faces of the Buddhas. Check out the fascinating bas relief of daily life scenes on the first level galleries. Experience the next door Baphuon by climbing the steep stairs to the top to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Continue to Phimean Akas located in the center of the Royal Enclosure. Visit the Elephant Terrace, Terrace of the Leper King, and Preah Palilay. Spend some time at the South Gate before returning to your hotel.
