    Explore Tenjin Underground Shopping Street, known locally as “Tenchika,” and experience the modern side of Fukuoka! I’ll introduce you to popular Japanese foods and sweets, point out interesting stores, and explain what locals actually buy and enjoy. I’ll explain the meaning behind features you’ll see, such as the torii gate, purification area, main shrine, and protective charms. If you’d like, you can also experience the traditional way of making a prayer yourself. It’s a great place to experience the contrast between modern Fukuoka and traditional Japanese spirituality—all right in the heart of the city.
