Gotokuji TempleA famous cat temple with a ten thousand of beckoning cats. Learn about the history of the Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) with tour guide. Gotokuji is a Buddhist temple, and is widely recognized as the birthplace of the Maneki-neko (beckoning cat). According to legend, the temple’s cat raised its paw to gesture toward a passing samurai, which led to the samurai's good fortune and the temple’s prosperity. As a result, Gotokuji is home to many Maneki-neko statues, which are believed to bring good luck and fortune.

The Gotokuji Shopping Street is a shopping street located between Gotokuji Station, known as "Cat Town," and Gotokuji Temple. Many of the shops display Maneki-neko (beckoning cats), and we can enjoy cat-themed item store as well as sweets modeled cats.

It's the Instafamous "Giant 3D cat" in Shinjuku. The 3D giant cat at the east entrance of Shinjuku Station became popular on Instagram and is now known as the "Cat of Shinjuku East Exit." The area around the east entrance of Shinjuku Station is a bustling shopping district where people gather, and the cat has become a friendly and familiar presence for both locals and tourists. Additionally, this 3D cat appears every 15 minutes, showcasing a short story for visitors to enjoy.
