  • Gozsdu Udvar
    Start and End of the Tour (Madach Imre street 12, 1075 Budapest). Look also for the Cafe "Hivatal". The Madach Imre street is the back part of Madach Square, connecting the Square with Gozsdu Court.
  • Masterpiece of architecture by Michael Ybl on Andrassy street. Home of music, culture and events. UNESCO protected WORLD HERITAGE the Andrassy street ensemble. Learn about the architectural styles of late 19th century and the historical subway M1. (You will not enter the Opera)
  • Andrassy Avenue
    Most famous street connecting the City Center with the Hero's Square and City Park. Passes Nagymezö street, the "Broadway of Budapest", Liszt Square and the Ring Roads. Location of House of Terror.
  • House of Terror Museum
    Former GESTAPO headquarters, prison of the communist era. Has been converted into a remarkable museum. Shows a part of the Berlin Wall in front. (You will not enter the museum)
  • You will pass Kodaly Square, with the museum and impressive buildings. (no visit to the museum) (pass by)
  • Heroes' Square
    Has been designed to celebrate 1000year anniversary of Hungary in 1896. Gives an overview about Central European History. Unique chance to see a complex past in a nutshell. From King Stephen to revolutionary Kossuth.
  • Vajdahunyad Castle
    Fake Castle in the City Park. Why? Let us explain ! Wonderful to see, interesting to experience and a statue of Anonymous as well.
  • Varosliget/City Park
    Budapest City Park, approx. one square km of park in the heart of the city. Currently undergoing some redesigning, nevertheless popular space for leisure, recreation and sport.
  • Szechenyi Baths and Pool
    The largest Spa of Budapest in the City Park. An example of hundreds of hot springs in Hungary and a long tradition of bathing. A bathing tradition cultivated in the old Roman Empire, further developed in Ottoman-times and now a landmark in tourism.
  • Liszt Ferenc Square
    Meet with famous composer Liszt at the Music Academy on Liszt Ferenc Square. The building is also an amazing example of Art Deco Style (here called Szezession-Style). The square houses also plenty of restaurants with nice terraces.
  • Kiraly Street
    Ride down Kiraly Street along the Jewish Quarter, here about Ruin Pubs and have a look into the "Gozsdu court" passage way.
  • Elizabeth Square
    Central traffic junction in Downtown Budapest. Find here the Aquarium, an underground bar and famous meeting point. Also legendary for the "Fröccs"-Terrace, which is a popular (summer)drink from whitewine and soda.
  • St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika)
    Largest catholic Church in Budapest, shows the right hand of St. Stephen under a glass. Beautifully renovated and a highlight of Downtown. (No visit into the church)
  • Szabadsag ter
    On one hand the "Wallstreet" of Budapest, on the other place of bloody history. Shows at least one controversial memorial and some ironic moments as well. Remember the Holocaust and Second World War in Budapest.
  • Hungarian Parliament Building
    Historical monument and operational Parliament. Impressive building on the river bank, one of the landmarks of Budapest. Beautifully renovated a "must see". (No entrance included) Turning around the building you will see a stunning panorama of the Danube and Buda-Side of the City.
  • Margaret Bridge
    Historically the second bridge over the Danube, perfect renovated and with a good bicycle way. Gives plenty of views and direct access to Margaret Island.
  • Batthyany Square
    This square offers a lot of history, good examples of baroque & unique rococo architecture and off course Count Batthyany. Have a look on the Parliament at the river bank on Pest-Side. Best picture spot !
  • Clark Adam Square (Clark Adam ter)
    Square at the Chain Bridge, "zero millage" of Hungary.
  • Szechenyi Lanchid
    First bridge across the Danube finished in 1849 by Adam Clark. Landmark in Budapest, connects Buda and Pest.
  • Castle Garden
    Another project of Michael Ybl, architect of the Opera. Impressive style of the late 19th century. Visible behind the garden are also some parts of the medieval castle of King Bela. An elevator leads here to the Royal Palace.
  • Erzsebet Bridge
    Named after Queen Elisabeth, wife of Francis Joseph of Austria. Also known as "Sissi" and very popular in Hungary. You will pass under the bridge on the river bank to the Gellert Hill.
  • Gellert Hill
    You will pass the hill on the river bank and have a view on the Statue of St. Gerald (Gellert) and his sad story.
  • Rudas Baths
    One of the famous Turkish spa's in Budapest. From Ottoman times rebuilt in 19th century and again recently. Offers now also a rooftop pool, restaurant, bar etc. Have a look on it while you pass with the bike.
  • St. Gellert Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool
    The third of the famous spa's in Budapest. This one in Art Deco style, and impressive building which houses the public bath and a hotel. Overlooks the Liberty Bridge and the Danube. From here a way leads up to the Gellert Hill and Citadella. You will stay on the river bank and cross the bridge !
  • Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid)
    Most popular bridge in Budapest. Wonderful construction from 19th century in iron. 16 meters longer than the hight of the Eifel-tower. A technical masterpiece at the time of construction, now a famous meeting point to see the sunset.
  • Fovam Square
    See the University of Economics, originally main custom's office, hence the "main customs square". Next to the Grand Market Hall and starting point of the pedestrian area through Downtown.
  • Another must see in Budapest. You will pass the Grand Market Hall, still working as a market for the locals, but also offering various stuff for tourists. Remarkable steel construction. (pass by)
  • Continuing on the Ring Road, you will pass the National Museum which was the first public building outside of the Down-Town area and motivated rich families to build palaces in the surrounding area. Played an important role in finding the national identity in the second half of the 19th century. (pass by)
  • Great / Central Synagogue (Nagy Zsinagoga)
    You will stop to see the Great Synagogue at the border of the Jewish Quarter in moorish style. (You will not enter the Synagogue on this tour)
