  • Colosseum

    The Palatine Hill is everywhere started. Rome was first established here in 753 BC, by the hands of Romulus, allegedly the first King of Rome. The Palatine hill was chosen by Romulus as it was deemed to be the best of all the 7 hills in Rome, thanks to its central position that was simply ideal. The ancient civilizations tended to choose the high grounds close to rivers for their early settlements. This gave a strategic advantage in case of military attacks as well as against the frequent floods of the water streams. The Palatine Hill is where the houses of the Kings of Rome, Palaces of the Emperors and notable people were.
