DMZIf tickets to Imjingak are unavailable, we’ll visit Odusan Unification Observatory instead. Before the DMZ ID check (please remember to bring your passport), we’ll stop at three sites in Imjingak Park: the Bridge of Freedom, Mangbaedan Altar, and a steam locomotive damaged during the Korean War. Mangbaedan Altar was built in 1972 for North Korean refugees to pay their respects to their ancestors who remained in North Korea.

The Third TunnelThe Third Tunnel, dug by North Korea under the DMZ, is about 12 km from Munsan and 52 km from Seoul. Discovered in 1978, it’s big enough for 30,000 soldiers per hour. We’ll walk inside, then watch a short video at the DMZ Theater about Korea’s division and the area’s unique ecosystem. * Please wear comfortable shoes. The tunnel is slippery sometimes.

Dora ObservatoryDora Observatory, the northernmost observatory on Korea’s west side, sits atop Mt. Dora and opened in 1987. On clear days, you can spot the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, Mt. Songak, North Korean villages, and more through the rooftop telescopes.

Gamaksan Chulleong BridgeYou will choose a visit to either Gamaksan or Majang Lake, In case there is not enough time, this site will be skipped Our first stop is a 15-minute hike up to one of Korea’s longest suspension bridges (150 m), once a fierce Korean War battlefield. From the top, you’ll get amazing views of Mt. Gamaksan.

Majang LakeYou will choose a visit to wither Gamaksan or Majang Lake, In case there is not enough time, this site will be skipped. This site saw fierce battles during the Korean War, where many Allied soldiers sacrificed their lives defending Seoul. Key fights took place in April 1951 (Delta Defense Line) and May 1951 (Kansas Line).
