MarktThe Food and Drink Tour starts on the market square, right in the middle of the city center. Our guide will tell you some stories about what you can see here and about the city's history. If it is a market day, the first food stop will be right in the middle of the square.
-
Before we actually start, let's reset our tasting buds. We will briefly visit the oldest chemist of the Netherlands, a store from 1759. There we will be taking some old Dutch medicine... Good for the stomach! That sounds odd, but don't worry. The chemist will tell us about it.
-
The next stop is restaurant 't Boterhuis, the old butter house. They don't sell butter anymore, but we will try something with butter there. Poffertjes! Little Dutch pancakes.
-
Old ChurchOn our way to the next stop, we'll pass by some of Delft's most interesting highlights. You'll hear stories about the meat hall, the old beer brewing industry and Delft's leaning tower.
-
't Kaas Lokaal DelftOur next stop is a little cheese store from 1901, right next to the Old Church. Of course you'll taste some Dutch cheese, you saw that coming already. But they'll also give us something more unexpected: a cheese bonbon. Let's see!
-
Molen De RoosOur next stop is a windmill from the 17th century: Molen De Roos. This is a wheat grinding windmill, that is still grinds its own wheat. They sell their own flower and baked goods. You will hear about the windmill, taste some of the good stuff they make and (if you want) you can go up a few stairs to see how the windmill actually works.
-
We will walk toward our next stop: a fish store. Here, you can choose if you want to finally eat the Dutch pickled herring. Don't worry if that doesn't appeal to you though, there is also something that is easier to love. You'll see!
-
Bierhuis de KlompTime for a drink! The next stop is the oldest bar of Delft, from 1652. A great place to have some bitterballen, paired with Jenever, beer or something else. If you don't drink alcohol, you can choose from a selection of soda's.
-
The final stop will be at Stads-koffyhuis. This is a famous coffee and lunch place in Delft. They're located in a super pretty location and they're most famous for their Dutch pancakes and apple pie. It is up to you!
