Overview
This tour will give you an idea of the glorious civilisations around the Mediterranean Sea since Phoenician times til nowadays. Get an idea of ancient Roman capital Tarraco and enjoy the trendy beach town of Sitges on the way back.
This tour starts with the hotel pickup in Barcelona. We travel in a comfortable air-conditioned SUV to Tarragona where we stop for a photo at the Devil's Bridge before we start a walking tour of the city at the Balcony of the Mediterranean . We walk along the seafront to the amphitheater, then we walk to the circus, the forum and the cathedral.
We enter Santa Tecla cathedral, a masterpiece of gothic architecture built on top of the foundations of a Roman temple. After the visit, we can stay in the area for a yummy lunch in the center of town.
In the afternoon we commute to the trendy beach town of Sitges, where you have time for shopping, a sunbath or a chilly time in a street café.

Mediterranean BalconyDrive from Barcelona to Tarragona (70 minutes). Take some nice panorama shots at the Balcony of the Mediterranean (20 minutes).

Murallas de TarragonaFrom the Balcony of the Mediterranean we start a walk to the ancient Roman amphitheater and to the city walls where we also see the old circus and the Pretorian tower (70 minutes).

Catedral TarragonaAfter a short walk of the historical city center of Tarragona, we visit the cathedral of Santa Tecla with its marvellous gothic cloister and its crypt built on the foundations of Tarragona's most important temple in Roman times. The cathedral is a masterpiece of Mudejar architecture of the gothic period. After so much history, you have the chance to eat delicious local food in one of the restaurants below the church.

Playa de SitgesAfter a relaxing drive of 50 minutes we come to the fancy beach town of Sitges. Sitges is known for lifestyle, wellness and creativity. Feel free to swim or to have a sunbath on one of the wide and clean beaches, get lost in one of the fashion boutiques in the center or in one of many deli shops or tapas bars.
