Parroquia de San Miguel ArcangelYou will visit the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, which is part of the jewels that have made the historic center a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and San Miguel de Allende. The interior houses numerous artistic treasures. The altarpiece of the main altar is a neoclassical jewel; all its elements are covered in gold leaf. Santuario de AtotonilcoRecently recognized as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, it has been located since its foundation in 1740 (18th century), it continues to be a place of worship and pilgrimage. Its great architectural appeal has been carefully restored over the last ten years. It has paintings and frescoes of great relevance, as well as treasures of baroque sculpture and two oil paintings that compare the similarities between San Miguel de Allende and Jerusalem. The first banner of the War of Independence was taken from its main altar by Cura Hidalgo, a canvas of the Virgin of Guadalupe that is now exhibited in the National Museum.
