Citadel of QaitbayThen we proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria, its powerful fortress built by the Mumluk king Al-Ashraf Qaitbay to defend Egypt borders from the north & by the sea & it has fallen off in the hand of the french then the British because the garrison were using the traditional weapons.
