Overview
As a local guide from Lapland, with two Master’s degrees in Photography and Design, I offer a unique perspective on the region’s culture, art, and design. My private tours are fully tailored to your interests and invite you to discover Lapland’s heritage through architecture, local traditions, and the stories that shape Finnish and Nordic culture.
From Alvar Aalto’s iconic work to lesser-known cultural insights in Rovaniemi, I bring places to life in a personal and engaging way. If you are seeking an authentic and thoughtful experience, I would be delighted to welcome you and guide you in English, Finnish, and French.

-
Lordi's SquareWe’ll start at Lordi's Square, a lively spot named after the famous local band Lordi, known for winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. We’ll also learn about the square’s connection to the Finnish epic Kalevala and its links to Finnish mythology.
-
Lumberjack's Candle BridgeWe walk by the river and see the Lumberjack's Candle Bridge, a symbol of Rovaniemi, known for its unique design.
-
Angry Birds ParkWe’ll also stop by the Angry Birds Park, a colorful attraction created in collaboration with Lappset, a local play equipment manufacturer, offering fun activities for all ages.
-
Rovaniemi ChurchWe visit Rovaniemi Church, an excellent example of post-war Finnish architecture completed in the 1950s. Its clean lines reflect Nordic functionalism and a distinctly minimalist aesthetic. Inside, the highlight is the monumental altar fresco “The Source of Life” by Lennart Segerstråle.
-
Rovaniemi City LibraryAt Rovaniemi City Library, we see one of the key works of Finnish modernism, designed by architect Alvar Aalto, reflecting his human-centered approach to architecture. Inside, we admire the flowing interior layout, organic forms, warm materials, and carefully designed natural light that together create a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
-
Lappia Hall is another example of Alvar Aalto’s design in Rovaniemi and a key part of the city’s cultural center. Its striking white roofline is inspired by the surrounding landscape, while the interior combines wood, light, and organic forms to create a distinctive cultural space that blends modernism with regional identity.
-
Korundi House of CultureWe stop at Korundi to explore its unique blend of contemporary art and layered history. Housed in a former red-brick post bus depot, the building combines industrial character with modern cultural use. Inside, we visit the design shop.
-
Science Centre PilkeWe stop by Pilke, a museum dedicated to sustainable forestry and northern nature known for its striking wooden architecture.
-
ArktikumWe will walk by Arktikum, known for its unique architecture and its role as a museum and science center dedicated to the Arctic and the history of Finnish Lapland. At Arktikum Park, we enjoy a peaceful riverside setting.
