Sacsayhuamanhe fortress was the largest structure built by the Incas. It was constructed on an elevated rocky promontory facing the northern marshy ground outside the Inca capital of Cuzco.

The place was the house of Huáscar during the Inca Empire. It was built by Admiral Francisco Alderete Maldonado at the beginning of the 17th century.
