You will visit the Mercado 20 de Noviembre on weekdays, a bustling traditional covered market with stalls for fresh produce, baked goods and local street foods. On weekends you will visit Mercado Alternativo de Tlalpan, walk through the market will your hosts and stop at their favorite stalls to meet the vendors, learn more about their produce and buy ingredients for your cooking class thereafter.
After your market tour join Jose and Luis in their home kitchen for a hands-on cooking class where you will learn to make 3 dishes in 1.5 hours. Don your aprons and learn to cook garnachas (a traditional dish of fried corn tortillas), molcajete salsa (tomato salsa made using a mortar and pestle) and sopa conde (black bean soup). After you cook together, join Jose and Luis at the dining table to share the meal you helped prepare.
