Malo GrabljeMalo Grablje is an abandoned stone village located a short drive from Hvar Town. Once a small farming settlement, it was gradually deserted in the 20th century as residents moved closer to the coast. Today, its empty stone houses and narrow paths create a quiet and atmospheric setting, offering a glimpse into Hvar’s rural past. It is a unique stop for walking, exploring, and taking photos away from the busy seaside areas.
-
Zaraće is a small village located about 7 km from Hvar Town on the island’s southern cliffs. Below the village are two pebble coves; Velo Zaraće to the right and Malo Zaraće to the left, separated by only a few hundred meters. Surrounded by steep rocky cliffs and clear blue sea, these beaches offer a more natural and dramatic setting than most beaches near town.
-
About 9 km east of Hvar Town, along the southern coast, lies the beautiful cove of Dubovica. Above the pebble beach stands a historic stone house that resembles a small seaside castle, giving the cove its distinctive character. The buggy is parked along the main road above, followed by a walk of less than 10 minutes down to the beach. Proper shoes are recommended, as the path is uneven.
-
Tvrdalj CastleTvrdalj Castle was the summer residence of the Croatian poet Petar Hektorović (1487–1572). In the 16th century, when Hvar faced attacks from the Ottoman Empire, Hektorović fortified his home so it could serve as a refuge for local residents. Today, visitors can explore this historic complex and see how a Renaissance noble combined poetry, architecture and defense in one unique residence.
