Wat Phanan Choeng WorawihanWat Phanan Choeng was built in 1324, 26 years before the founding of Ayutthaya capital in 1350. The large image hall houses the seated Buddha image of 19 meters in height and 20 meters in width at the lap span. The buddha was built from bricks and plaster covered with black lacquer and gold. The Buddha is regarded as a guardian for mariners and was restored many times until the fall of Ayuttha kingdom. The temple and the Buddha were destroyed by fire.
