Overview

Three of Lebanon's most significant natural and spiritual destinations — underground, mountaintop, and mountain hermitage — in one private day from Beirut. Jeita Grotto for natural wonder, Harissa for national shrine, and Annaya for something quieter and more unexpected — the mountain village where Saint Charbel lived, hermitted, and died, drawing pilgrims from across the world to one of the most genuinely moving destinations in Lebanon.
Jeita Grotto: a UNESCO tentative World Heritage Site and New 7 Wonders of Nature finalist. Harissa: the cable car to 650 metres above the Mediterranean and the iconic shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon. Annaya: the hermitage of Saint Charbel — canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1977, the first Middle Eastern saint of the modern era, who spent his final twenty-three years in complete solitude in a stone cell on a mountain ridge. Private vehicle and knowledgeable English-speaking driver throughout.

  • The Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon
Our Lady of Lebanon — Lebanon's defining mountaintop shrine The 8.5-metre bronze statue of Our Lady of Lebanon — arms outstretched toward the Mediterranean, one of the most visited religious monuments in the Middle East. The Maronite Basilica and neighbouring churches surround it. Panoramic views over the Lebanese coast from 650 metres. Revered by Christians and Muslims alike.
  • Monastery of Saint Maroun & Hermitage of Saint Charbel — Annaya Drive into the mountains above Jbeil to Annaya — the remote village where Saint Charbel Makhlouf lived, hermitted, and died on Christmas Eve 1898. Canonised by Pope Paul VI in 1977, Saint Charbel was the first Middle Eastern saint of the modern era and remains one of the most venerated figures in the Maronite Church worldwide. The Monastery of Saint Maroun houses his tomb — a pilgrimage destination that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually from Lebanon and across the world. A short walk leads to the hermitage where he spent the final twenty-three years of his life in complete solitude — a simple stone cell on the edge of a mountain ridge, unchanged since the day he died in it. Whether you come as a pilgrim or as a traveler drawn by the extraordinary story of this place, Annaya is one of the most quietly powerful destinations in Lebanon.
