Private tour to the Killing Field and Genocidal Museum in Phnom Penh
Overview
On this tour you'll visit two places in Phnom Penh to experience the genocidal regime led by a notorious Leader Pol Pot.
Your professional English-speaking tour guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and will take you to the Killing Field of Choeung Ek Genocide Center - 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh and S21 prison.
The infamous Killing Fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, turned the place into what became known as the Killing Fields, where around 20.000 victims were executed. Over three years 2.5 million people were massacred and buried. After paying tribute to the dead, you'll return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21).
Pol Pot turned a once popular high school into a high security prison. 20.000 people were imprisoned there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a museum and a reminder of darker days. After that your guide will take you back to your hotel.
