Glasgow CathedralThe medieval Glasgow Cathedral has been in constant use for worship for over 800 years, and is of great architectural and historic interest. Highlights include one of the finest post-war collections of stained glass windows in Britain, and the ceiling in the Blackadder Aisle which was built around 1500 by Archbishop Blackadder. The Burrell CollectionOver 8000 items form The Burrell Collection. Highlights include one of the most significant holdings of Chinese art in the UK, medieval treasures including stained glass, arms and armour and over 200 tapestries which rank amongst the finest in the world, and paintings by renowned French artists including Manet, Cezanne and Degas. This magnificent collection in its purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful parkland, is ranked amongst the most significant civic museum collections in the UK, comparable to the National Gallery and the V&A in London. On the way out you may well spot Highland cattle grazing in the beautiful setting of Pollok Park or otters in the small river that runs through the estate.

Fought over by William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, the home of the Scottish Royal Court , besieged by the Jacobites , becoming a military barrack before being taken over by historic Scotland who have done a magnificent job of showcasing Scottish history in an informative and entertaining manner.
