Mother Teresa CathedralThe Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa in Prishtina is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Mother Teresa, who was of Albanian heritage. It’s located in the center of the city, near the government buildings, and is one of the tallest and most recognizable landmarks in Prishtina. Construction began in 2007 and the cathedral was officially opened on September 5, 2010, to mark the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa’s birth. It was later fully consecrated in 2017. The architecture is modern with elements of traditional church design, and the interior is bright and spacious. One of its standout features is the bell tower, which is open to visitors and offers a panoramic view of the city.

The National University Library Of Kosovo - Pjeter BogdaniThe National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani” is one of the most unique buildings in Prishtina. It’s located in the city center, near the university campus and close to other landmarks like the Mother Teresa Cathedral. The library is most famous for its unusual architecture. It was designed by Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković and opened in 1982. The building features a mix of brutalist and Byzantine styles, with 99 white domes on the roof and a metal net covering the entire structure. Some people love its bold design, while others find it strange or even unattractive—but it definitely stands out.
- The Heroinat Memorial is a monument in the center of Prishtina, Kosovo, dedicated to the women who suffered during the Kosovo War, especially the 20,000 women who were victims of sexual violence. It was unveiled on June 12, 2015, and stands across from the well-known Newborn Monument. The memorial shows the face of an Albanian woman, created using 20,000 small metal pins—each pin represents a woman affected by the war. From a distance, the pins form a large portrait, but up close, you can see each individual pin, symbolizing both the collective and individual stories of the women. It’s a powerful and emotional reminder of what many women endured, and it honors their courage and strength. (pass by)
- The Newborn Monument is one of the most iconic landmarks in Prishtina, Kosovo. It was unveiled on February 17, 2008, the same day Kosovo declared its independence. The monument spells the word “NEWBORN” in large, bold letters, symbolizing the birth of a new country. At first, it was painted bright yellow, and on the day it was revealed, thousands of people signed it to show their support. Since then, the monument has been repainted every year on Independence Day, often with different themes to reflect political or social messages—like flags of countries that recognized Kosovo or topics like peace, environment, or youth.
