- Bloody Point gets it name from the massacre of the Kalinago Indians that took place in the village of Challengers in the 1600s. The British had settled quite close to the Indians and told them they did this to secure the chickens within the area. The chief, Tegreman became suspicious when Sir Thomas Warner (the first governor of St Kitts) returned from England with African slaves and more settlers. The Indian chief decided to ask the neighboring island for help as he planned his attack. He was betrayed by a woman.
