Overview
On this tour you will visit three of the most important landmarks in Bulgaria – the Old Town of Plovdiv, Bachkovo Monastery and Assen’s Fortress with a self-guided tour.
In Plovdiv’s Old Town you will find houses from the Revival period, ancient churches and Roman ruins, most impressively the amphitheater. The art galleries, small antique shops and cosy restaurants complement perfectly the artistic atmosphere of its cobblestone streets.
Then, move on to visit Bachkovo Monastery, the second largest in Bulgaria, famous for its 17th c. wall paintings. Afterwards, travel to Assens Fortress and explore its unique two story church before heading back to Sofia.
