Cheonjiyeon FallsThe name means pond where earth and sky meet, and the upper part of the falls' rocks is lava that erupted 400,000 years ago, while the lower part is hardened volcanic ash, an impermeable layer of lava deposits. As water continues to fall from the falls, erosion continues to occur, breaking up the rocks and causing the falls to recede further and further. This makes the falls an important educational site to understand and learn about how waterfalls form.
