First stop is a natural stone quarry where villagers have cut the stone out of a dry river bed for generations. From there the trip continues to an agricultural village where you will discover the fragrance of Balinese coffee being roasted and traditional Balinese snacks are freshly prepared for you. Learn to make “canang”, the most important element of Balinese temple offerings and take an optional 30 minutes soft trekking through the rice fields.
-
JatiluwihJatiluwih, located in Bali's Tabanan Regency, boasts stunning terraced rice paddies maintained through the ancient "Subak" irrigation system, a testament to Balinese farming traditions. Recognized for its cultural significance and natural beauty, Jatiluwih was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012. The name, blending "Jati" (real) and "Luwih" (beautiful), reflects its captivating landscape. A visit offers insights into Bali's age-old agricultural practices and an immersion in its rich heritage.
-
The next stop is for a sumptuous Balinese lunch, served in the Bamboo Forest Restaurant by WHM surrounded by giant bamboo in a rain forest on the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Enjoy a glass of wine, beer, tea or Balinese coffee in the glorious open-air canopy. You can try to play one of Balinese traditional musical instrument “rindik” or just leave it to the expert and simply enjoy the music.
-
Mount BatukaruAfter lunch, you will visit Batukaru temple, a unique sacred mountain sanctuary and royal temple of Tabanan dynasty. It was founded in 11th century by Empu Kuturan, a great Hindu Sage who established six main temples on the island of Bali. Here you can pray with the “canang” that you made, as an offering to the Gods.
