This experience lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of your design and your carving speed.
At the beginning, there will be a 15-minute introduction to the art of seal engraving, giving you a basic understanding of its history and techniques. After that, you’ll choose a stone you like — we’ll offer some suggestions based on the design you want to carve. When it comes to designing your pattern, we’ll guide you through the whole process. Once your draft is ready, the instructor will teach you how to engrave, and you’ll have time to practice on a sample stone until you feel confident enough to start carving your chosen one. Finally, you’ll print your finished seal onto paper and see the beautiful result of your own creation!
The workshop is located in No.43 Yangmeizhu Xiejie Hutong. This HUtong has been known as one of Beijing’s most culturally vibrant streets. Your workshop is just 10 mins walk from Tiananmen Square and 3mins walk from Dashila. The Hutong is filled with stylish shops selling drinks and handcrafts. After the session, take some time to explore the area and soak up the local atmosphere.
