This massive, naturally lit cavern has a fascinating history. Home to prehistoric humans, it later served as a natural Roman food refrigerator and a secret Cold War military base. Movie fans might also recognize its grand arches from the Hollywood blockbuster The Expendables 2.

Krushunskiye WaterfallsNext, we visit the ethereal Krushuna Waterfalls, Bulgaria’s largest travertine cascade. Famous for its emerald-blue pools and lush forest setting, the falls are breathtaking year-round. Even in the summer when water levels naturally drop, the vibrant, mossy rock terraces remain a beautiful sight.

LovechAfter working up an appetite, we will head to the historic town of Lovech for a delicious local lunch. From there, we will explore the town's highlights, starting with a walk across the famous 19th-century Covered Bridge—the only one of its kind in the Balkans. We will finish our tour by climbing up to the impressive Medieval Fortress, which offers panoramic views of the city and river below. Filled with history and unforgettable scenery, we will then relax on the drive back, dropping you off at your Sofia accommodation in the evening.
