  • Elephants that are wounded or orphaned are temporarily cared for at the Udawalawe Transit Home in Sri Lanka before being released back into the wild. The Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation manages it and provides a protected setting where elephants may get specialized care, medical attention, and interaction with other elephants.
