Unlike other dances, the music is provided entirely by the human voice—the gamelan suara—as the men sway, stand, and move in rhythm to tell the story. For the final stop, we drive you to Jimbaran Beach to enjoy a fresh grilled seafood dinner on the sand. Unlike other Balinese dances that use a gamelan orchestra, Kecak is performed entirely by a circle of 50 to 150 men chanting "chak-ke-chak-ke-chak" in a mesmerizing rhythmic harmony. The performance depicts the Hindu epic, the Ramayana, telling the story of Prince Rama’s battle to rescue his wife, Sita, from the evil King Ravana with the help of the monkey god, Hanuman.
