  • Place St Michel Bordeaux
We'll meet at Michel Mabelle in the vibrant St. Michel neighborhood to pick up freshly baked croissants or chocolatines. We'll stroll to a cozy café to enjoy our pastries alongside a cup of coffee while I introduce you to one of Bordeaux's most authentic neighborhoods. Known for its working-class roots and bustling multicultural streets, St. Michel has always been at the heart of the city’s life and trade. If it's a Saturday or Sunday, you'll be able to see the market!
  • Porte de Bourgogne
Next we'll step from medieval streets into the Enlightenment, at the grand gateway of Porte de Bourgogne. Here, we'll meet the man who transformed Bordeaux into the elegant city it is today.
  • Grosse Cloche
We'll continue our journey by walking in the steps of pilgrims past to the Grosse Cloche, one of the most iconic sights in Bordeaux. After we pass through this stunning bell gate, we'll be rewarded with a canelé and learn how this local pastry is the story of Bordeaux itself!
  • Then we'll stroll through medieval streets into the heart of Bordeaux’s historic center (often called Vieux Bordeaux). Here we'll stop to enjoy a classic French snack- a madeleine. While savoring this small, shell-shaped sponge cake we'll visit an arthouse cinema inside an old church and get to know a Bordeaux's most famous historian.
  • We continue on to the longest shopping street in Europe! As we take in the bustling modern shops, we'll go back in time 2000 years to meet Bordeaux's Roman roots.
  • Cathedrale Saint-Andre Bordeaux
Our next stop is a wedding at the soaring Cathedrale Saint-Andre. Here, we'll meet the bride who was one of the most important women in Bordeaux and changed the destiny of France.
  • Rue des Remparts
Time for lunch on the old city walls! We'll stop at a café to enjoy a sandwich or a quiche, while literally sitting atop the remnants of Bordeaux's ancient city walls.
  • Porte Dijeaux
From the old city walls, we'll be able to stand in the spot where visitors have entered Bordeaux since Roman times and take a stroll down one of the most charming streets in the city, lined with boutiques and elegant buildings.
  • Place du Parlement
Time for dessert in one of the most beautiful squares in Bordeaux! We'll stop to enjoy a crêpe or ice cream while we step between the Royals and the Revolution.
  • Place de la Bourse
Next we'll step into a Bordeaux postcard and the ultimate place for photos! If you haven't already fallen in love with Bordeaux at this point- you will, on the romantic riverfront Place de la Bourse.
  • The Water Mirror
As our journey winds down, we'll come back into the present at the Miroir d'eau or Water Mirror. This modern architectural masterpiece will leave you reflecting on the fascinating ties between Bordeaux's past and present.
  • We'll end our journey in front of the Opera with a little chocolate! From this grand city center, you'll easily be able to continue your explorations of Bordeaux or wile away the rest of the afternoon with a drink, overlooking the most beautiful building in the city.
