Virginia Luray Caverns and Shenandoah Skyline Drive from Washington DC
Overview
Begin your journey with a comfortable departure from D.C., leaving the city behind as the scenery shifts from urban landmarks to rolling countryside. This is a stress-free way to reach Virginia's most famous natural attractions without navigating traffic or planning logistics yourself.
Step into one of the largest and most impressive caverns in the eastern United States. Luray Caverns features cathedral-sized chambers, towering rock formations, and reflective pools that create a surreal underground landscape. This optional stop adds a rare geological experience that few travelers get to see firsthand.
Luray Caverns (Optional, 120 mins) → Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park (120 mins)
Special notes:
1. Due to the Skyline Drive located across Shenandoah National Park, we enter from Thornton Gap and drive to north exit, this is a one-way tour and lasts 120 mins.
2. On the winding driveway on the mountains, we will stop at the overlooks to observe the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
3. We will also take an easy walk on one of the trails among the mountains. Total 45 for this trail (round trip). If the weather is extreme, the tour leader will cancel the trail trip, and add other stops properly.
4. From mid-October to mid-November each year, travel along the Skyline Highway and enjoy the picturesque autumn scenery of Xanadu National Park (please understand that the scenery may vary depending on the weather conditions).
5. If the weather is extreme, we cannot enter into the National Park
