Mirador del GibralfaroThis Castle, built in the 14th century to house the troops and protect the Alcazaba, is today one of the most visited moments in Malaga where you can walk through its walls with impressive views of Malaga, or enter its Interpretation Center to discover his story. It receives its name from a lighthouse on its top (Jabal-Faruk, mount of the lighthouse). Although it was used by Phoenicians and Romans, it would be the Nasrid king Yusuf I in 1340 who would make this settlement a fortress. In the reconquest it suffered the siege of the Catholic Monarchs during the summer of 1487 and Fernando del Católico made it his temporary residence after the victory. In addition, he designated the castle as an element of the city's coat of arms.
